Wild birds are a marvelous source of fascination, entertainment, inspiration and great ecological insight. As a telecommunications manager and electronics engineer, it is not surprising that I have interest in how birds communicate, and particularly in recording their songs and calls for scientific study and popular enjoyment. Perhaps you yourself have listened to some of my recordings on publications by the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology, the National Geographic Society, the National Audubon Society and others.

For more than 20 years I have had the pleasure and privilege of helping others from throughout the world learn the why's and how's of natural sound recording. Along the way I have been asked to write several articles pertinent to this passion. A few of them are posted here for your convenience.
